Current Needs in Bakersfield!

~Journey Bags
There is an ongoing need for Journey Bags for children ages 0-5 years old. These bags are filled with essential and comfort items for children and their caretakers. We have been asked to pack bags specifically for use by family members that take placement of their relative children. Each bag is a tangible way to bless a child during a traumatic time in their life.

~Project Sunshine
We are ready to begin assembling teams of volunteers to complete makeovers at 3 separate locations. Six visitations rooms at The Child Visitation Center, two interview rooms and one large visitation room at The Kinship Center, and the bathrooms at Jameson Children's Home all need our love and attention. We are looking for project leaders, painters, shoppers, donations, etc..If you are interested in "adopting" one of these rooms, please email Becky.

All to often children who have been reunited with their parents are returned to foster care once again. Sadly, many of these parents have no family support or role models to look to when parenting is difficult. We are looking for mentor teams to encourage and support birth parents as they learn to parent their children. This is an amazing opportunity to bring the hope and love of Jesus to the forgotten in our community. They need our support, but more than that - they need Jesus. Being a mentor is the greatest opportunity to share the truth of the gospel with the lost in our community. (Training dates to be announced.)

  1. I am so thankful for what you all do. As a social worker we need the community to help children in foster care know that are not forgotten and what you do is making a HUGE difference. Thank you!
